Places for People Neighbourhoods

Places for People Neighbourhoods has the priority of continually assessing existing and newly planned neighbourhoods to ensure they are ‘Neighbourhoods of Choice’. The assessments will help to create plans to improve neighbourhoods so that their value increases over time.

Our neighbourhoods comprise a mix of house types and tenures to ensure a mixed, sustainable community. We work with our partners to facilitate the provision of good quality services that communities need to survive. Across the group we are committed to involving customers in the running of their neighbourhoods so that the services they receive a responsive and real. This also means we work with residents and local organisations to ensure that our communities are safe and friendly places to live.

The main aims include:

• Stock Investment
• Wide Scale Area Regeneration – New and Existing Places
• Innovation and Working with Other Partners

Neighbourhood requirements – what we look at:

• What is currently happening in Neighbourhoods
• Customer profiling to assess service needs
• Current and potential partnerships
• Customer involvement methods and views
• A Neighbourhood planning process.
• Indicators Assess what the issues are Assess what we can do ourselves and with others Resource investment
• Defining what we mean by Neighbourhoods and priorities
• Look at our local authority, regional and sub-regional strategies

Potential Services we would look to introduce:

• Renewed/revised stock conditions and asset management plans
• 3-5 year plans with certainty over investment needs
• Management and improvement of environmental and open spaces
• ASB and Community safety
• Home ownership and tenure diversification
• Rationalisation disposals/alternative use
• Care and support services, aids and adaptations, assistive technology
• Older people services
• Group regeneration services
• Working with partners
• Income generation for investment
